ABOUT NOUVA Rethinking Learning Through Science and Innovation

NOUVA is an education technology brand operated by NOUVA Ltd. (新浪潮文教有限公司), with a vision to transform how people learn around the world. Our multidisciplinary team brings together expertise in learning sciences, linguistics, language education, and curriculum design to create more effective, engaging, and empowering learning experiences.

By combining cognitive science, educational psychology, and intelligent technology, we rethink how people explore knowledge, develop understanding, and apply what they learn in the real world.

From our signature A.C.T.I.F learning methodology and six-step cognitive learning cycle to interactive educational content and AI-powered learning tools, everything we develop is guided by one belief:

Learning goes beyond knowing. It’s about turning knowledge into real-world ability.

our story

From Nouvelle Vague to NOUVA

The New Wave Lives On

Our story began with Nouvelle Vague — French for “New Wave.”

More than our original name, it represents the spirit that has defined us since the beginning: challenging conventions, questioning established ways of thinking, and continually exploring new possibilities.

We believe education should do more than deliver knowledge. It should spark curiosity, inspire independent thinking, and empower learners to turn ideas into action.

As Nouvelle Vague evolved into NOUVA, we carried the spirit of Nou — a nod to the French word for “new” — into a simpler, bolder identity, ready for a wider world.

A new name.
The same pioneering spirit.

Grounded in science and driven by innovation, we challenge traditional approaches to make better ways of learning a reality.

Never settle for convention. Never stop exploring.

Our Team

A Team of Educators. A Science-Informed Approach.

Great learning begins with thoughtful teaching.

Our educational team brings together expertise in learning sciences, linguistics, foreign language education, French language teaching, and interdisciplinary curriculum design.

We draw on research in learning and cognition to inform how our lessons are designed, taught, and continually improved.

Every learning task, guided activity, practice opportunity, and feedback experience is designed with a clear purpose: to help learners build understanding, develop practical skills, and grow in confidence.

Our focus goes beyond what teachers teach to how learners actually learn.

Great teaching isn’t telling —
it’s guiding.

A.C.T.I.F

A.C.T.I.F — Our Six-Step Cognitive Learning Cycle

A.C.T.I.F is NOUVA’s signature teaching methodology, developed by our educational team and informed by principles of Active Learning, Constructivist Learning, Cognitive Science, and Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT).

At its core is a six-step cognitive learning cycle that takes learners from active discovery to meaningful understanding, repeated practice, and real-world application.

Rather than simply receiving information, learners actively construct knowledge, experiment with new ideas, and develop the skills to use what they have learned.

Discover → Analyze → Understand → Apply → Memorize → Live It

The A.C.T.I.F six-step cognitive learning cycle: Discover, Analyze, Understand, Apply, Memorize, Live
  1. Discover Active Exploration

Learning begins with curiosity. Through observation, listening, hands-on activities, and interactive play, learners explore, experiment, and make discoveries from the very start.

  2. Analyze Logical Thinking

Instead of being given the answers, learners are guided to recognize patterns, compare differences, and think logically — discovering and constructing rules for themselves.

  3. Understand Deep Understanding

Knowing the answer is only the beginning. By organizing ideas, making connections, and building their own mental frameworks, learners develop a deeper, more meaningful understanding.

  1. Apply Flexible Application

Knowledge becomes skill through practice. Through varied exercises, hands-on activities, and meaningful tasks, learners put what they know into action.

From day one, we encourage learners to speak up, experiment, and embrace mistakes as part of learning — building both ability and confidence through repeated practice and feedback.

  2. Memorize Lasting Memory

Rather than relying on rote memorization, learners strengthen long-term memory through understanding, repeated application, and well-timed review.

With continued practice, knowledge becomes easier to recall and skills increasingly natural to use.

  3. Live It Real-World Practice

Learning comes alive beyond the classroom. Learners use their skills to express ideas, solve problems, accomplish meaningful tasks, and connect with others in everyday life.

As they grow more comfortable communicating and taking risks, language becomes a natural part of how they think, interact, and engage with the world.

Test scores and grammar knowledge tell only part of the story. What matters just as much is the confidence to speak up, express yourself clearly, and keep going — even when you make mistakes.

All-in-One

NOUVA All-in-One — Technology That Makes Learning Come Alive

Technology should do more than move textbooks onto screens. It should create new opportunities to explore, practice, interact, and receive meaningful feedback.

Built around our A.C.T.I.F methodology, the NOUVA All-in-One Intelligent Learning System combines interactive educational content with AI-powered learning tools, connecting classroom instruction, online learning, and independent practice.

Our integrated learning tools include

  • Constructivist Interactive Videos

Explore concepts, discover patterns, and build understanding through guided questions and interactive exercises embedded in instructional videos.

  • Fully Voiced Interactive E-books

Combine native-speaker audio, interactive reading, and engaging activities to develop listening, reading, and language comprehension.

  • AI Speaking Practice & Feedback

Build communication skills through real-life scenarios, AI roleplay, pronunciation analysis, and feedback on written expression.

  • Smart Audio Flashcards

Strengthen long-term memory through listening, active recall, and regular review.

Whether learning in class or independently, learners can explore, practice, review, and build their skills at their own pace.

Learning without classroom boundaries. Practice that makes every moment count.

Language

More Than Learning a Language.
Learning to Engage with the World.

At NOUVA, language is more than a means of communication. It’s a way to think, express who we are, and connect with the world around us.

We offer French and English language courses through in-person classes, online learning, and private lessons, with flexible options for different levels, goals, and learning preferences.

Core Programs

Structured Language Courses

Our Core Programs follow the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), providing a structured learning path that progressively develops listening, speaking, reading, writing, and real-world communication skills.

Themed Courses

Learn Through What Inspires You

Inspired by Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) and task-based teaching, our themed language courses bring meaningful subjects into the learning experience.

From social issues and feminism to literature, art, comics, philosophy, cinema, sports, food, and contemporary culture, learners develop their language skills while exploring topics they genuinely care about.

Language becomes a tool for exchanging perspectives, sharing passions, exploring cultures, and engaging in thoughtful conversations.

We encourage learners to start speaking from their very first lesson. There’s no need to wait until their grammar is perfect or their vocabulary is extensive before sharing an idea.

We don’t just want you to speak another language.
We want you to have something to say.

Culture

Where Learning, Art, and Culture Meet

01

A Creative Learning Space

NOUVA is more than a language school. It’s a creative learning space where education, art, literature, and culture come together.

02

Themed Classes

Across our physical and online learning spaces, a diverse range of themed classes brings social issues, philosophy, cinema, literature, and the arts into everyday learning.

03

Talks & Cultural Events

Beyond language courses, we regularly host cultural events, talks, and discussions featuring writers, philosophers, artists, creators, and professionals from different fields.

These encounters bring together different ideas, cultures, and perspectives, creating opportunities for meaningful conversations and connections beyond the classroom.

We believe learning is also about discovering different ways of seeing the world, developing an appreciation for diverse perspectives, and connecting with people through shared curiosity.

A place to learn.
A space to think.
A community to connect.

Kids Lab

NOUVA Kids Lab — Inspiring Young Minds Through Discovery

At NOUVA, our approach to active learning and interdisciplinary education extends to children and young learners.

Through French classes for children, STEAM education, mathematics, and CLIL bilingual programs, we encourage children to develop language skills while exploring science, mathematics, art, and the world around them.

Our learning experiences combine interactive play, storytelling, hands-on experiments, creative activities, and problem-solving tasks.

As children observe, question, experiment, and create, they develop logical thinking, communication skills, creativity, and the confidence to learn independently.

We care about more than what children know today. We want to nurture their curiosity, strengthen their ability to think for themselves, and inspire a lifelong willingness to explore the unknown.

THE NEW WAVE OF LEARNING

Always Evolving

Grounded in science. Empowered by technology. Inspired by art and culture.

We believe learning should lead to more than knowledge. It should give people the skills, confidence, and freedom to put what they know into practice.

NOUVA — THE NEW WAVE OF LEARNING.
